Discover

The Legendary
Assam Tea

Assam's tea story begins in 1823, when Scottish adventurer Robert Bruce discovered wild tea plants growing along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river. This discovery set in motion a journey that would transform Assam into the world's single largest tea-producing region.

Nestled between the Himalayan foothills and the tropical rainforests of northeast India, Assam's unique geography creates a perfect storm for tea cultivation — intense monsoon rainfall, high humidity, and mineral-rich alluvial soil. These conditions yield a tea of unmatched character: full-bodied, malty, brisk, and deeply aromatic.

Today, Assam produces over 700 million kilograms of tea annually across more than 800 gardens, supplying a significant portion of the global black tea market and the prized blends of countless international brands.

Our CTC Tea Grades

CTC — Crush, Tear, Curl — is the dominant processing method for Assam tea. It produces small, uniform pellets that brew a strong, consistent cup ideal for masala chai, milk tea, and everyday drinking. We offer the following primary grades from our factory.

01
🍵
Broken Pekoe (BP)
Our flagship grade. Larger CTC particles that brew a bold, full-bodied cup with a rich amber liquor. Preferred by premium blenders and institutional buyers.
Premium Grade
02
Pekoe Fannings (PF)
Medium-grade fannings that brew quickly and uniformly. Widely used in tea bags and mass-market blends. Strong, brisk liquor with consistent quality.
Commercial Grade
03
🫖
Dust (D)
Fine-grained CTC dust for fast, intense brews. High in demand for tea bag production and consumer blends requiring a quick, strong cup. Our best value offering.
High Volume

Asom Tea Industry is a registered Tea Manufacturer under the Tea Board of India. All our produce is eligible for sale through Tea Board channels, e-auctions, and direct trade. We welcome inquiries from registered tea dealers, blending houses, and wholesale buyers.

Why Assam Tea
Stands Apart

The combination of Assam's unique geography, climate, and the Camellia sinensis var. assamica plant — indigenous to this land — creates a tea that cannot be replicated anywhere else on earth.

🌧️
Monsoon Rains
Assam receives over 3,000mm of annual rainfall, nourishing tea plants year-round and producing leaves with exceptional moisture and essential oils.
🌡️
Tropical Heat
Hot, humid summers accelerate leaf growth and concentrate the natural maltiness that makes Assam tea unmistakable in the cup.
🌱
Indigenous Cultivar
The Camellia sinensis var. assamica is native to this land — a larger-leaf variety that naturally brews stronger, richer, and more aromatic than other varieties.
🏔️
Brahmaputra Valley Soil
Alluvial soil deposited by the Brahmaputra river is mineral-rich and well-drained, giving Assam tea its deep, earthy, complex character.
